Class Descriptions

Anusara Yoga:  Anusara Yoga means "stepping into the flow of grace'.  This style of yoga offers structural alignment and heart-centered movement.

Asanas for Mamas: Practice standing, seated and rstorative poses that build strength and stamina.  Improve digestion, relieve abdominal pressure and back pain, discover hip openers and reduce discomfort.  Encourage a grounding calm energy with meditation and breath.  Pre- and post- natal yoga, newborns welcome.  ~♥~Honor Your Body And Your Baby~♥~

Ashtanga:  The Ashtanga practice is traditionally done 6 days a week with one rest day per week and new and full moon days taken as rest days, also (please see our Moon Days page for more information about Moon Days).  While our mysore program is only 5 days per week, we are there to provide the space for dedication, devotion, and discipline to unfold with a regular practice.
Ashtanga Mysore classes are for self-guided practice, and are not verbally guided by the teacher.  All levels of students, from absolute beginners to 10 year veterans, practice together, each at their own pace, and the teacher helps each individual as needed.  Beginners are asked to purchase a 10 class package or a monthly pass to initiate the practice with some momentum and ensure a safe progression.  Those with an established practice are welcome to drop in.  In the Guided Ashtanga class, students with some Ashtanga or other Vinyasa style experience are verbally guided through all or part of the traditional sequence of poses known as the Primary Series.  The uninterrupted flow format develops steadiness of breath, internal focus, core awareness, and an overall deepening of the breath/movement relationship. This class is also a good introduction to the Primary Series practice.   If you'd like more information, please visit www.ashtangayogadenver.com.

Yoga and Meditation:   Recognizing that you've got to move to be moved, yoga works from gross to subtle, or, from the outside in.  So we begin class with a dynamic asana and pranayama practice which prepares the physical, mental and energetic bodies for the work of turning inward, and the practice of meditation.  This class is intended for any student (beginner or experienced) who is ready to move in asana, and then beyond it, exploring the ancient techniques (mudra, mantra, yantra, japa, trataka) offered to us through yoga for expansion of awareness and the cultivation of mindful living.

Compassionate Yoga is a gentle flow class that includes pranayama (breath practice), guided meditation, and some restorative poses.  This class is based on the Yoga for Grief class series & workshops being offered around the Denver metro area through Grace Grief Yoga (www.gracegriefyoga.com).  Compassionate Yoga is especially helpful for those grieving, but is also for those wishing to cultivate more compassion for self and others.

The Friday Freebie is a yoga class offered by a group of recent graduates of local teacher training programs who want to share their love of yoga... for FREE.  This class is taught by rotating teachers, some who are new, some who are seasoned, some younger, some older, but all with great enthusiasm to share.  You can expect a variety of teaching styles, breathing techniques, meditation, philosophy, and maybe even some chanting.  Whatever your level is, you will find something to intrigue and challenge you on your journey toward greater awareness of the benefits, traditions and joyfulness of the practices we call yoga.  Donations are graciously accepted, but it really is free!

Hatha Yoga: Hatha Yoga is any yoga that is practiced physically using postures and breath. Hatha Yoga classes are available to all levels of practitioners, and incorporate various styles of yoga in each class.

Jivamukti Yoga: This class is a Vinyasa- and Ashtanga-based practice inspired by Jivamukti style yoga. Students will be lead through therapeutic yoga postures while being educated about other non-physical yoga practices, including a clear understanding of yoga philosophy, the spiritual aspects of yoga, as well as deep understanding of asana and pranayama. This class features Vedic-style chanting, guided Pranayama (breath control), guided meditation, Vinyasa style yoga postures, and yoga philosophy. Beginners are more than welcome!
