Living Learning Yoga Series, Thursdays 7:15-8:45pm

Join us for our Living Learning Yoga Series, each month an exploration into a different topic in the practice and science of Yoga.

Embodied Yoga: a six-week series on body acceptance

Picture
This 6 week series is designed for anyone who just simply wants to feel more comfortable in their own skin. We live in a world where we are constantly bombarded with the idea that if we “achieve this”, or “look like that” we will become happy and fulfilled. Let's explore the possibility that you already have all you will ever need to live an authentic and content life. Even if you can't touch your toes, carry an extra 30 pounds, your house is a little messy and, like me, you sometimes prefer cookies over carrots.

Yoga isn't about perfection. It's about meeting yourself where you're at, flaws and all, and still showing up. Let's explore these ideas with humor, compassion and a little bit of sweat.

Throughout the 6 weeks we will discuss during classes..
  • Body Acceptance-A tool to move forward, not an excuse to stay stuck
  • Weight and Self Esteem
  • Adapting the physical postures of yoga to your body, and not the other way around
Bring your bodies, just as they are.  All are welcome.
Space is limited, early registration recommended.

DATES: Thursdays, Sept. 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 and Oct. 6
TIME: 7:15-8:30pm
COST: $60 for the series

Building Asana from the Inside Out- Mentoring the Inner Teacher with Hansa Knox

Picture
An in-depth exploration of PranaVayu and bandha will deepen your experience and understanding of asana.  In this workshop, we will explore how to unfold the postures by working with the breath, the body locks and the movement and containment of prana.  Through this work, your muscles will “find their way home.”

The workshop series is geared to yoga teachers and experienced students who are willing to step into the inner flow of yoga.  We will explore details and language to build the asana from an inner awareness, which enhances the outer alignment.  Grounding the asana, these discoveries bridge the duality of inner and outer experience to just simply “be” the asana, rather than “do” the asana.  These insights are great for teachers, as well as to grow your personal practice.

Hansa Knox has over 30 years of experience teaching yoga.  As past president of both Yoga Alliance and Yoga Teachers of Colorado, a former faculty member of Metro State College, as well as one of the first teachers to offer Yoga Teacher Training programs in the city, she is considered one of the pioneers of spreading yoga and yoga therapeutics throughout the Denver metro area.  Please visit http://www.pyamandala.com/faculty.html for more information.

Dates: March 24th, 31st and April 7
Time: 7:30pm-9:00pm
Cost:    $40.00
*Minimum of 5 people must register for this event.  In the event that the series is canceled, your money will be fully refunded.

"Tantra Yoga: What it is, What it isn't" with Whitney Wheelock

Picture
You are invited to be part of a discussion on traditional Tantra, a spiritual science and, moreover, a culture whose sole intention is to experience, understand and express love.  Join us for this two-part series as we explore this often-misunderstood path of Yoga, and experience concrete ways we can bring these practices and philosophies into our own lives.

March 10:  An Introduction to what Tantra is, and what Tantra is not
If you know nothing, a little or a lot about Tantra, this discussion is for you.

March 17:  Tantric Puja
Tonight's class begins with Tantric puja, a ritualized way Tantrics understand and honor their lives.

Whitney Wheelock has been living in India for four years, studying and teaching at Sri Kali Ashram in Goa, India.  We welcome his teachings about Tantra, and honor his commitment to preserve these ancient practices and techniques of a culture that has been virtually lost in the modern world.
